well you couldnt put large discus in a 20 gal, as they are too large and will not have the right amount of room for healthy living. if i were you, either get a larger tank, or go with 3 or 4 smaller ones and let them grow and then get a larger tank and add a few more around the same size they are

You could have one breeding pair of discus in a 20g. It's not really a wise decision to put in smaller sized discus just because you can. Eventually they'll grow too big for it and then you'll have to accomodate them accordingly. I just feel it's better to cater to their needs now then later.

I like to have 2 small sized fish in there, before I moved them to another tank . My space is tight right now , tanks is everywhere.

You can put about four to five in the tank but they will grow out of that..

Answer's the same for both of ya's. None. Discus get too big to be put in a 20 gal. They're fragile and easily stressed as it is and like to be in schools not singly or in pairs, unless you're breeding them. You need a 55 minimum for a school of five or so to be happy. Why waste the money buying expensive fish and they stressing them out and killing them by repeatedly moving them to bigger tanks over the years and not keeping schooling fish in a school. If you really want to keep Discus get a few smaller ones and raise them in a 55 or 75 to start with. Then you don't have to worry about stressing them out with moving them later on.

jack wattley said in one of his articles that 20 gallons is large enuff to put a pair in! seriously he did ,but thats if you want to perform daily water changes with aged conditioned water, and he is an expert,I wouldnt try it though, try saving some money for a bit larger set up,55 gal is cheap and then u could add about 6

I am thinking about 60 gal few planted tank now . I wonder if they are getting along with Electrice Blue Jack Demsey . I want to mix these 2 species together.

Electric Blue Dempseys are extremely fragile if not kept in the proper water conditions. Discus need high temp, very acidic, soft water. Blue Dempses, like regular Dempseys, as Central American Cichlids need neutral to slightly alkaline water. Again, why buy an expensive fragile fish if you're not going to provide proper conditions for it? Temperment wise they'd probably get along. But as far as water requirements they're too different. And very unforgiving of the wrong PH or Temp.
