Just wanting to share my newly pair discus. I just placed them in a 20 gal tank a few hours ago. I grew and raised this pair from 2". Male is about 5.5" and female is almost 5". They've spawned two or three times already when they were in my community discus tank. We'll see if I can get some nice baby turquoises from this pair. I'm thinking the male should be fertile now because he is a little over a year old.
Two more pairs are forming in my community tank. Feeling lucky eh!!! thumbsup.gif

hey, how do you care for your disscuss? are you useing r-o or peat let me know whats the best way to set a tank for disscuss, im thinking about geting a few, but are water here is like liquid rock 7.8 out the tap and hard, whats the best way to go about geting it soft enuff for them to breed,I know I can keep them alive but I heard if you want them to breed you really must get the ph way down?? give me some pointers please.
amazing_betta
Osborne,
Don't need to lower the PH. It's the hardness that you should be aware of.
I used 70 - 30 RO/Tap water.
Last time I checked their TDS before this spawn was 110 ppm.
I did another 25% straght RO water and I think it went down below 100. 45.gif

HTH,
Lauro

amazing_betta
Tony,
Sure!
I'm only going to keep 8 for myself and the rest will be up for sale once they reach quarter size. Selling price will be $10.00 a piece. Hope they'll make it into that size. They should be ready in a month or two.

Thanks,
Lauro

Hey Daniel,
Nice to see you again. Thanks for the comments. Well, I do have two super red melon but they are still young. Also, I got another two turqs of the same batch that I think are pairing up. They are almost identical to this pair.
