I've had 2 Rose Queens for 4 months and they are both about 6 inches and look ok, but i was wondering after looking at this site are they even flower horns at all and should i keep them? as of late iv been thinking about getting rid of them to make room for my fry and use the 55 as a grow tank. right now the fry are in a 10 gallon.
does any one have any adult rose queens? id like to see how they look full grown and maybe ill breed them back to my ZZ/RD

thanks in advance thumbsup.gif

i think rose queens are considered flowerhorns too. rose queens are known for be all rose red. it depends on the quality fish, if you want to keep or not. and it also depends if you like that fish or not. everyone has a different taste. if you really dont have any more room for fish, then you could think about buying a new tank. goodluck 4.gif 4.gif 4.gif thumbsup.gif

rose queens just like big red are breed for kok and deep dark red coloration, more red then the midas's red which is really pinkish. post some pics up, im sure senior members can tell u what they are. or at least make an educated guess which will prob be close to dead on, but in the end no one will know but the breeder.

couldnt get any pics of the female who sits under a piece of slate right now. but this flowerhorn looks NOTHING like my others (like the pic to the far right)
i really wanted to breed back to my big male but not if there really just midas

a rose queen is not a flower horn. they are hybrids however, they are a kind of fish that comes out from crossing a syn and a midas. with that cross you get 3 kinds of fish blood parrots, king kong parrots and rose queen. they are nice fish but the ones you usually find have infertile male due to the hybridization process. usually they are confused with red shocks or srs which are considered to b flowerhorn but are really not, more like cousins. a red shock keeps the solid red base of the rose queen but shorter body and bigger head, more on the syn side, and a srs has more midas. anyway the point is that rose queens are as much flowerhorns as parrots they are really not.

This was my male in his hayday biggrin.gif

This picture does not do his colors justice,

I never had a chance to breed him to see if he was fertile.
