hi, i am planning to raise some discus, but i want to research on it first. first of all, how many discus can you put in a 50 gal tank? and what are it's suitable tankmate? what are its type of food, and is it prone to disease? those are the questions for now hehehe thanks evryone

neon tetras and other types of tetras are good tank mates ,plecos,Cory (Corydoras) Catfish are also good tankmates but remember neon tetras and cory cats like to be in schools so get like 3 plus on each except the pleco i read that u can have 1 discus per 5 gallons but if u put other fish in and even if u dont i would go a little less then that like 6-8 or less but it is ur choice but 6-8 should be safe just dont go to crazy with the other fish if u choose to do 8 good foods r beefheart, white worns, adult brine shrimp, frozen bloodworns but not to often because they say its parasite free but u dont know if it thawed on the way to the store which would give parasites a chance a get into it, here is a site http://www.rockymountaindiscus.com/Discus_...food_recipe.htm url to a recipe for beef heart food if ur intrested and heres a site url http://www.articlesbase.com/pets-articles/...ish-643995.html for common diseases and treatments for them also do u know about the ph and hardness levels. if u have any more ? feel free to ask and keep use updated good luck
