if you like feeding just BH to ur fish and dont like the mess. heres a solution
(i borrowed this from another site)
cut in 1/2 in chunks, freeze, run the frozen pcs through salad shooter, result in little worm like pcs.


this recipe is modded from my discus recipe. and my discus are showing vibrant colors.
growing thicker, and best of all grown 1/2 inch in 1 week !!

my aro and KKP all love this too !

recipe # 2

3 cups ground beef heart/veal heart
1 cup ground raw shrimp
1 cups ON Prime Reef flakes
1 cup pellets
1 tablespoon liquid vitamin
1 tablespoons paprika
2 crushed garlic cloves
1 /2 cup cooked spinach pureed

(feel free to change up the recipe)

throw all this in food processor and blend till mush
pour into ziplock bag. flatten , then freeze
after frozen cut in squares and throw back in freezer
(feel free to change up the recipe)

if you want to add gelatin. mix and heat til hot, not boiling and stir in few packets of Knox gelatin, pour and let cool. Cut it up and freeze
i personally dont use gelatin. my fish eats so fast it doesnt make any mess.

Try using filet of fish that have white meat rather then red meat. Funny thing is I do similar stuff like that for my salt water tank. And when I had piranhas they love the white meat filets until they started eating each other. LOL

Let me give you my CR5 since you are local. I want to really test this product. Is just not for the redness. I use to feed my RTG some CR5 in his diet, his color is 5x better than any RTG i have seen. I cant access my arofanatic picture for some reason.

I cant really get my FH to take them since I dont have time to blend them up. If you could help me with it, that would be great since you are local. I would just buy the food from you and compensate your time.

if you're ok with just seafood mix. unless you know where to get beef heart...

my first batch i used salmon and cod...
my discus and kirins didnt touch it ..
then i took out the cod and used tuna.
they're killin it now.

What about chicken heart instead of beef heart you think its a good substitution?

yes chicken is a good sub if you cant find beef hrt.. remember to do more water changes.
The blood increases the bioload, hence foul water.

theres no cooking involved =) ( probably only the spinach)

yes! i say that with confidence that comes from my (and many FH keepers i know) experiment. chicken heart is tasty and tonic food for FH. but causes hexamita in them. of course its just about FH.

Instead of BH, lot of us in india use Goat Heart... Specifically this Goat Hear mix has become a standard food for Discus keepers...
I personally have not tried on my FH though... he is happy with pellets.. but intend to try this out.. since i have large apprehension in my cooking skills.. , so looking for anyone here who can help me with this...
