I just got back into more mainstream flowerhorns , for the last few years I have been breeding just playing around with genetics mostly. I recall when I was first into flowerhorns if you wanted a kamfa ( to get the stronger finage and to get that beefier build you would get a flowerhorn and cross it with a parrot. I have see endless uploads of fhxparrot pics of the spawn, heck I have tried myself but never kept any of the fry.

I guess what I am getting at is the results. I notice the fry tend to be less appealing in color (less flowers and have odd face structures). Do the spawn look nice if grown to maturity? I can see using one of the spawns with a flowerhorn again to get better colors and stronger fins.... but just wanted to hear or even better see pics of these outcomes.

The thing about the old school kamfas is that it will take them a lot longer to mature and to be able to see full potential. I recently bred a BP and a FH but sold all of my fry and only kept one. Unfortunately the one I kept was killed by another one of my FH

Most now use KKP females to get a better quality type kamfa or better yet most will try to use a female kamfa (with nice genes) that can lay eggs. In my opinion I would personally use a BP or KKP to test fertility of the male. Once fertility has been proven I would stick to a super high quality female FH, mostly ZZ or kamfa that has nice ZZ traits.

Thanks for the advice. One of the reason was basically restarting the sinario again possibly I can get my hands on a few fry that are flowerhorn /parrot, and I can also get some parrot/syn's as well right now... I would avoid the parrot bodies and stick to the fh outcome.....

wah thats cool... thanks for the pictures... white eyes there too eh!!! The last pick is a nice one.. I have seen the odd fish kicking around and the face of the fish were very parrot like , really hybrid looking... but then you get the ones that look like FH with the strong fins from the mother... cool thanks for showing the pictures!!!
