I got this fish in Jan. from someone and had no idea he was sick. just been taking up tank space for the last couple months. he doesn't eat except once a week when i feed them all market shrimp. (once and a while i would thaw out some and give it to him in the middle of the week) anyways i put a female next to him cause she had got beat up and next thing you know.... her tube drops but shes a lil bigger than him and probably weighs twice as much. I put them together anyways but i kept a close eye on them. Hardly any fighting at all. they both went STRAIGHT to the PLATE!! LOL.. heres some pics from 2 weeks ago. i have free swimming fry. He dont eat but he will spawn!!!! CHEERS!!

thanks anthony, yeah he just started eating pellets but only like two and it takes him a long time to chew it up and get it down. i havent given him any shrimp since he started eated the pellets cause i want him to get better. hes SO skinny. I'm positive his offspring will outgrow him in short amount of time maybe 6 month. i know he was bound to be a lot better looking fish then he is at the moment, but he was mistreated(neglected) by previous owner. I'm doing my best to bring him back. I'm sure his parents were super tight! wish i had the pics. Looks too be only 30-40 fry swimming i want to say 30-50 but its more like 30. LOL i'm happy with that though.

not a problem bro. I cant wait till they get to be a couple inches to see how they look. I'll for sure post update pics as soon they get an inch long. Who knows, the male might just blow up if he gets the hang of chewing down pellets. Every feeding time he just races up to get the first pellets i drop then it takes him 5 min to chew it up. lol. he stays right there and watches me feed the other fish next to him but if i drop some more for him he just looks at it. only eats the first mouth full. but he stays interested so hopefully he can continue to get the pellets down.

heres some pics of the fry. sorry for the bad camera but its all i got for now!! every pic has been from my camera phone. these fish look awesome already. not selling none. plan on using them to further my breeding projects!. it has been quite a battle to get them to do it a second time for me. her tube is droppeed tonite so we will see if it will work again. have had to constantly seperate and let together over and over so they dont kill each other. im still 50-50 on getting this to work again.

Round two was unsuccessful. The male wasnt into it till after he discouraged her and she only laid a tiny bit of her eggs. then after i seperated them he started showing all the breeding behaviors. lol a day late and a dollar short, i think is the term.

That sucks, next time for sure.

Yeah I hope so. If not i got the 30 fry to play with when they get big enough. the male is still such a picky eater that his offspring will surly be bigger than him in just a few more months. maybe 4-5 more months but they will pass him up for sure! I will post update pics on the fry soon too.

LOL!!! next time came sooner than i thought! they are together now and her tube is fully dropped. they are both doing the wiggle worm dance! its looking good for sure! at first i didnt think it was gonna work out cause she was running from him going to the top and trying to hide. which is pretty funny cause shes alot bigger than him. well im gonna take some pics of this. ROUND THREE!!!!! hopefully get a whole batch this time instead of just 30 fry like i got from round 1.

round three was unsucessful AGAIN!! he beat the crap out of her. well not that bad but pretty bad. just goes to show you cant force a pair to be together and do the deed. I am still super STOKED that i got the 30 fry from the first round!!
