Hello every, I have two flowerhorn male is about 6 inches, and female is about 4 inches. I have them in a 55G fish tank with divider in between. I have them in the tank about 1 months now. Yesterday, I took the divider to see if they can go together, when I first took off the divider they were fine. few hours later, the male flowerhorn starting to bite the female flowerhorn, so I separate them. today I realize that female starting to lay egg tons of them. so took off the the divider again, but this time the female starting to bite on the male.
for next time when the female lay egg should I bring the male to the egg side and remove the female so that male can be with the egg?
my question is are they too young to be together? shoud i wait couple more months?
when i have the divider the in between them they look like they want to be together (digging gravel below the divider)
any suggestion what should I do?

I would wait a few more months and mean while take the divider down when you do w/c so they get use to each other

Buds got a good point. you really cant try and put them together. atleast till she eats the eggs. or they die. after that you can try again to get them to bond. also when breeding it's never is a good idea to put a pair together the day before she wants to lay eggs.
