My kamfa just laid some eggs... How can I tell if the eggs gets fertilized by the male? What else should I do?
AnthonyV
Looking good Albert!

If the eggs were truly fertilized you'll see little black dots on them in a couple of days.

ok thanks. So thats the only time I can move the parents out of that tank right? Good thing is the weekend. I can watch them... thanks a lot anthony!!

Courtney
Also if they are white they are fertile, if they turn opaque/brown they have gone bad.

Yes, that's right.

put some meth blue if the eggs are not in with the parents usually the female with watch over the eggs and fan the eggs to prevent fungus growth. She will sometime eat and pick at the unfertilized eggs to clean it up a little. Wait time is 3-5 days

I put the eggs in another tank and I put water from the main tank. I only filled the tank like 30% water. I think the heater was too hot and friend they eggs... damn 1st try and I failed. Hopefully 2nd try should be successful...

if the eggs are brownish and not fugues them they are probably GOOD. the white eggs are bad and will never hatch.

Albert bro.... condolcense to you and your frys. I know how you feel right now, because my parents is taking care of frys while i am out of state. Recently i heard my dad said their is less than 50 frys left in the tank.. i freak out... when i left their was still 200+ left even though the male ate about 100.

It is easy to take care of your frys.
Anthony method is reasonable but i dont think he can recall what he said the other day cause he drank a lot of henikan (beer) that day.

1.Look for the dots on the eggs.
Something to let you know what i did, I bought one of those smooth rocks and they laid eggs on them.
2. Tilt the plate sideways and have another bigger plate under it.
3. Make sure you have oxygen for your eggs to hatch, which is that you need bubbles below the tilted plate.
4(1/2) Take out the parents right away after you see the black dots. Never take out the eggs.
Fertilized means that your eggs changed into black dots. Black Dots = Eyes
4(2/2) Anthony one thing you did wrong is trying to remove the eggs from the parents. The eggs need to stay from the same tank till they grow up.
5. Separate your parents.
6. WC 15% every 1 day or 2 day
7. Remember the most significant is that you need to clogg up the filter with some cloth you know so they dont get sucked in.
8. Take out ur pleco from your tank for your own sake.
0. Feed them everyday. Check them out also and update pictures on MFK... I m not on Flowerhornrus or Flowerhornusa that much.
I hope this will help Sorry that you cant contact me because right know i am still on vacation in Asia.

I agree with alot of what you said except the part about moving the eggs bro. i move my eggs everytime and never have a problem. plus you dont have to feed them till they are free swimming as they eat their own egg sac. another thing is dont clogg your filter, this is main reason i move eggs to 10 gal with smaller less powerful filter with a filter sock over the intake plus a sponge filter that was running in the parent tank. there are more than one way to breed fh's. trial and error has led me to always remove the eggs from larger tank till they are a couple months old.

thanks for the info fhlover i was a little scared there 4.gif laugh.gif 4.gif

I know what you mean however, for beginners its better not to move them till its finally successful. I like how you do your things but shouldnt you keep your flowerhorn with the original water. happy.gif 75% of Breeders always moves the parents into another tank. In continusly I like how you breed your flowerhorn I can try it again on my next batch. It is going to be hard for me to sell my Fully red dragon frys..
