I am noticing some spotting on my Male ZZ. Looks like a second row of flowers? Is this something that the fish can grow or do they have to be born with them?

Its def not female. He already has a Kok on him and I looked at the vent. We just moved so as soon as I find the camera I will take pics. I think the stress of moving and being in a bucket for a 45 minute car ride then another 1/2 hour while I was getting the tank setup stressed him out. They weren't there last week.

if you can already see a kok, and he/she only has a faint double flower row (or what might seem like one), its nothing to be excited about. strong noticeable double flowerlines as adults should appear strong and noticeable when they are juvies. good adult double flowerlines don't develop from faint ones as juvies. they're either strong lines or not.

if you can develop that double flowerline, do so!
a good double flowerline is a double line that runs across the whole body of the fish, and where the flowers are each individually seperated and noticeable instead of just a schmere of colors. for example, if ( ) were the black outlines and * are blue scales, your flowerline should be (*)(*)(*)....

in many parts of the flowerhorn global market, good double flowerlines can increase the cost of the fish more than a monster kok ever could. but a good double flowerline is hard to get. i would say that only 1 out of 80 grade A flowerhorns have a decent double flowerline.

Double row isn't that hard in Thailand. LOL!
But it's expensive.
My male flowerhorn sometimes stressed and shown me the spot that just like double row. So, I don't think you can have the full double row for sure. LOL

Here is an example of a doule row flowerhorn:
http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http:/...x=141&ty=92but, this flowerhorn has a mottled, broken double flower line, and not very high quality markings.
I'll post a pic of my masterpiece flowerhorn later. The double flower row markings on mine doubles the price of the fish believe it or not. Once you see it, you'll understand.
