Heya, there're many people asked me about the light I used in my tank that produces red.
The answer is "Any kind of light that give you purple". Not daylight, warm white, or actinic. It could be T8 T5 or even PL.
Moreover, the chlorophyll pink (astaxanthin) is red and purple mixed. When your fish eats any food that have astaxanthin, you should give it 2 hours purple light.

LOL! I don't know where in USA. But mine is about 2.5 bucks (80 baht).
However, Sylvania Gro-lux or Aquastar are also best but little bit expensive like 10 bucks.
You asked me about the red enhancer. I would definitely use chlorophyll pink (astaxanthin).
the 3rd photo is before using astaxanthin. It's not hormone, it's nothing harm your fish. It's just astaxanthin mixed with vitamins and some minerals. You may find it naturally in
Cyclop-eezeSeeing it from photos may not see the red area produced, but I guarantee that you wouldn't disappoint with it. You can find any food in your place that mixed with astaxanthin. You will see the result within 4 to 8 weeks. Give it 3 days per weeks, do not over use it. Or so the red will eat the pearl area.
Personally I mixed the pink with fresh spirulina (in a liquid form that Thai scholars and professors invented it)
After feeding you give him 2 hours purple light and also using the mirror tricks to make it more aggressive. If it more aggressive it will produce more red to color fight with itself in mirror. And the hump will also produce. That's the best trick I tried and it's work!
Good luck, pal.

No, black light is no no no. It's for bugs.
Actually some people called Red light instead of purple. However, ask if they have aquatic light or not first. Then you ask about purple light later. This might be better way, right?

Any idea of where i might be able to pick up some of that power pink stuff online, i checked ebay and no such luck. Is the company name power pink? I was able to find cyclop eeze on ebay but not power pink. So i picked up the cyclop eeze, a combo of both chingmix, and 3 bottles of xo humpy, starry, and red to go along with my grand sumo green/red and shrimp/bloodworms/beefheart at home. But if you could give me an idea of where i can find some of the less heard of products like that power pink id appreciatte it.
Thanks,
Brenden
P.S. Awesome lookin flowerhorn

Only in Thailand, really. It could be hard to export because it is in the form of "powder". The FDA will check that for sure.
By the way, your food is already excellent. They are all red enhancer. So, you don't really need it. All you need could be some food that contain with spirulina which most of your food contained. It will help fish scale more sparkle. May be you would like to have Xo starry. Or other products.
By the way, beef heart could dirty the water too much. And it could be lot of parasite if you give it raw. I wouldn't suggest that.
Thanks for the compliment.
Good luck!
