well im going to vietnam this summer and i was wondering if there is any FH market there? if there is, i wanna buy some and bring it back here, is it possible, does anyone know? thanks !

i've never been to vietnam, but i think fhs are common there. i THINK, don't take my word for it if you're able to bring back some fhs, take some pics and display

I was told that fh overthere are of low quality because not many people can afford those high end, so not many high end fh gets imported into Vietnam. Kinda ironic because Vietnam is not too far from Thailand, indonesia, Malaysia, and phillipine compared to us in the US.

well the thing is bringing it back..idoesnt it need to go thru lots of to get imported??fish food is aiite but im nto sure about a fish itself..i think you need a import license

Hey Vietrice2k5, if you want to find high quality, go to Ho Chi Minh City aka Saigon. With luck, you can find a masterpiece for cheap. Remember, you can find FH's market place in Saigon and Hanoi, Vietnam's capital. Top FHs can be found in Saigon only. Good luck.

Hey Vietrice....when r u going to VN? i'm going to be in Can Tho, which i think is near where ur going. anyways, i'm gonna look for some fh's when i go there. i been there before and i don't recall seeing any 10 years ago. but i do remember seeing lots of tiger datnoids, oscars, red-tail gourami, and some arrows. if i can't find any, oh well, i love going fishing over there in the small streams for their cichlid-looking fish, gourami, cat fish and tin foils. ))))`

Thanks Etek, I wish I could read and write viet, I can only speak it and read and write very little. I'm more confused at that site than I am in spanish class.

I was just in cambodia and thailand about 2 months ago. I did see some nice kamfas, and some zz in a pet store. I did see some eastern maidens in friends place, and some restaruants. I found a place where u can order chilly reds arrows,maybe about 4inch for about 1000 us. I plan to purchase some and attemp to breed the chilly red arrows in our pond over there. so you can find some nice fishes but a little difficult . The flower horns over there for the nice ones were just a little cheaper but not much. This was all in cambodia but did not have time to look for fishes in thailand.

no dude the FHs in vietnam is high quality and hardcore breeding but its too expensive to purchased like 8 inches with big kok costed 1,000 to 1,500 US dollars. That y you never hear anything about vietnam flowerhorns bro.Vietnam they been breeding flowerhorn over ten years experiences.

bro you can buy but u can't pass though the border from vietnam n border in cali . cause I try to ask my bro in law bring back some nice flowerhorns but he can't .Because in Vietnam they don't have the imports/exports kind like that so that y we never heard anything about flowerhorn come from viet nam. PS in vietnam they have really hardcore FHs and new strain chillid.

I'm in vietnam right now and there are lots of high quality flowerhorns, i got my red dragon for 20 bucks =)

Hey "iyafool"....i'm going to Vietnam tomorrow. What city did u find those nice FH's? I am going to Saigon and Can Tho down south by the delta. Are u from the US? Are we allowed to bring any back? Does anyone have any info on the US Customs rules?

Well, you can find some nice flowerhorn fish in ho chi minh city.. look around there's bound to be some fish shops around.

i don't know about bringing FH back to the US, but im sneaking some FH frys back to the US =) hehe

p.s. THEY HAVE some REALLY unique FISH HERE.. i saw a "green" dragon and a white flowerhorn fish with orange and red fins.

Maybe high quality by your standard! If Vietnam has been breeding for 10 years, how come we don't hear anything from them? After 10 years of breeding, we should hear something by now. I beleive that every now and then you come across a nice flowerhorn and the price just is too expensive. FU*k, for $1000-$1500, why not get an arowanna, and they live a lot longer too. Because of the high price, not many people are into fh as compared to arowana. Thats is why I beleive even IF after "10 years of breeding," they got nowhere!

I believe ledcom (Dan) was in Viet Nam earlier this month.
