Very beautify tank and the Turq is gorgeous.

This is a beautiful tank. Whenever someone attempts a planted tank, I automatically have to give them props because I know it takes a ton of effort. Please provide us updates on the discus! Do you have a CO2 Reactor for this tank? Why type of plants are those?

As for tankmates, i've seen arowanas with discus.

Nice tank! thumbsup.gif

I'm no expert or Takeshi Amano, but your tank is a bit small for so much plants. The discus need more swimming space.

Also, some of those plants (bottom right) seem to be plants that were originally grown emmersed and aren't true water plants. They may eventually "melt" away.

You may plant more of the taller plants in the background and give your discus more swimming space in the front. smile.gif Ideally, it'll be best to get a larger tank.

Planted tanks can be so attractive! thumbsup.gif

I'm just a beginner with planted tanks.

-Compact Flourescent lights (although expensive), with the right light intensity, seem to work the best.

-Do frequent water changes

-A CO2 reactor mixes CO2 into the water much more efficiently than a normal CO2 diffuser would. Aquatic plants benefit greatly with CO2 injection.

Here's a site that's quite helpful: www.aquaticplantcentral.com

Good luck!

Hey Rurouni,

Lighting is extremely important for planted tanks. I would recommend getting a power compact light for your plants.

As for a CO2 reactor or the importance of CO2 in a planted tank, I found an article that explains it much better than I can.

http://faq.thekrib.com/plant-co2.html

Keep in mind that too much CO2 can be toxic for your tank.

Anyhow, good luck with your planted tank. Keep us posted on the progress.

i think you should accessories better in the sense that you should plan where this and that should go before getting your hands wet. i myself am guilty of plunging a large amount of plants into the tank and praying everything goes well together.
